Let’s discuss the Roomba 880 Review in details.
Design
It looks similar to the Roomba 700 series vacuums and almost identical to Roomba 790. In the center, there’s a large circular puck with a flip-up handle, a large Clean button to active the robot, and several touch-sensitive buttons for programming its schedule.
Like iRobot Roomba 790 features two Virtual Wall Lighthouses. These black devices can be set on certain locations to project boundaries to Roomba to avoid crossing the area. You can set this small device to difference ranges, up to eight feet in length. You can also set the Virtual Wall Lighthouse in a Virtual Halo accessory to surround a circular object to avoid bumps.
Control
The Roomba 880 comes with a remote control to manually control the robot and perform different settings. It looks like a conventional television remote but has much fewer buttons. It has all the directional buttons, and three additional silver buttons to dock, spot clean and start clean automatically.
The rubber direction controller will not let you easily move the robot forward, instead will turn it left or right. It also comes with a larger Wireless Command Center having three distinct direction buttons allowing you to control the bot better and penetrate into small areas easily.
The vacuum will start vacuum as soon as you press the Clean button. Then you can control its movements using the remote control, Virtual wall, and Wireless Command center, but you still have to turn it on manually.
You can also program the robot to clean on certain days and time regularly without requiring you to go into every corner. For this, you can use the controls on the body of Roomba, from the screen select the days of the week and time you want the vacuum to start cleaning without you.
If you have shag carpet then you can choose your best vacuum for shag carpet and if you have hard floors then you can choose best vacuum for hardwood floors.
Performance
The Roomba 880 comes with a new brushless intake which avoids tangles from occurring. The company claims it’s five times much powerful compared to the old models, and removes 50 percent more dirt, hold 60 percent more dirt in the dustbin.
However, the Roomba 880 can pick up plenty of dirt, debris and crumbs from the floor.
Finally, the Roomba 880 works with perfection and the new brushless system is worth it. Though it offers all bells and whistles it’s still expensive and at the same or less price you have plenty of other options to look for with similar features or some with better performance, design and features.
Overall, the iRobot Roomba 880 is a powerful but expensive robot vacuum cleaner that is powerful enough that sucks up dirt, debris and left nothing except the clean floor.
