iRobot Scooba 230 Robot Vacuum Review

iRobot Scooba 230 is a robotic mop that not only sweeps but mops your floor. It cleans the edges of walls and stops to spin in concentric circles, keeps running back and forth.

This robot learns from its activity and runs in your room to clean everything without wasting time, or cleaning fluid. It’s far better than the average mop and does not leave any grease behind while cleaning.

Let’s discuss theĀ iRobot Scooba 230 Review in details.

Design, How it works

After the first Scooba release, which was large, round, heavy and was expensive enough to buy as a cleaning solution. It was easy to use, but a pain to clean. You could even detach the tank and take it to sink to wash. It also came with an extra set of accessories which needed removing and cleaning after each use.

It did, clean tiles, sealed floors like other Roomba models, but intelligent enough to provide cleaning success. It also used sensors to detect walls and edges, programming to understand where to go and how to avoid while crossing the threshold of a rug-covered area.

But when we talk about Scooba 230 robot vacuum, it’s much smarter than iRobot iAdapt Responsive Cleaning system. It learns how to clean through a room with its amazing sensors and intelligence. It’s solution is not expensive and has managed to make the Scooba 230 more innovative than others.

Its new diminutive size is similar to earlier Roomba vacuums, the two-tone grey Scooba 230 stands above for 6.5-inches and weighs around 3 pounds. It’s small in size and can get into small spaces without any problem.

Its size has been shrunk vastly. Now, more removable tanks. Instead, the Scooba comes with two bladders: One which cleans dirty water and other cleans fluid. Both of them managed to fit in the space half of Scooba tank because as one fills, the other collapses.

But to empty the Scooba you have to bring it all the way to sink or bathroom to clean it. All the cleanable parts like squeegee, brushes, suction ports, are all house in one base plate which easily snaps on and off. You can replace parts yourself easily. In the bo,x there are three replacement plates, two virtual Wall units, AC adapter charger, base plate, sample cleaning fluid packets.

If you have shag carpet then you can choose your best vacuum for shag carpet and if you have hard floors then you can choose best vacuum for hardwood floors.

Using the Robot

The Scooba 230 is easy to set up and easy to use. First, you need to fill the tank with the packet of cleaning solution and water. From the two connected bladders keep the dirty one opened to relieve the pressure as the clean one fills up. With the help of two buttons at the top: Clean button, and a power button, you can control the robot.

The Scooba 230 is a sweeper as well as the mop. It can clean up all debris from the floor as soon as you hit the Clean button, it will creep slowly across your home, dash to the other side like it was in the race. It can easily traverse the room and can manage to get to the bathroom easily. Sometimes tiles have raised flooring so the robot can struggle there. That said, the Scooba 230 won’t get stuck either moving from room to room or avoiding obstacles.

You will most probably get the job done before the battery runs out. After cleaning the room and laying down a coating of cleaning fluid, Scooba will scrub the floor and finishes squeegeeing up all the dirty liquid.

When the job is done get the robot to sink, and now clean both parts and pour out the dirty liquid. The clean bladders are ideal for floor cleaning, they themselves can be cleaned with water as well.

Performance

During cleaning, if the Scooba face any problem it will indicate with the help of an LED light at the top. If the yellow light is bright, that means the robot is running out of battery life. You can read the manual to learn what other lights are indicating like suction ports and squeegee aren’t clogged or robot is facing any internal error.

A home of 60 sq ft won’t be finished in one cleaning cycle. For a larger home, the robot-mopping take time. As no one would like to wait to recharge (8 hours) a robot to clean each room of their house.

Overall, iRobot Scooba 230 robotic floor mop is effective for mildly dirty floors. It can clean smartly and never gets stuck. Those who do not like mopping their own bathroom and absolutely hate reaching behind the toilet, Scooba is for them.

Overall, iRobot Roomba 230 floor-cleaning robot cleans moderately dirty floors, and can sneak into high spaces but has short battery life.
