The Roomba 652 is an affordable robot vacuum which is reliable and comes with programming ability.
Features of Roomba 652
The Roomba 652 is a pocket-friendly robot vacuum cleaner that lacks advanced features of high-end robots like Roomba 690, Room 960, Roomba 890, and Roomba 980.
The Roomba 652 has an activation button to start the robot, the ability to schedule a cleaning session on certain days and time. It shares similar features to Roomba 614 but not all. Roomba 652 gives 60 minutes of run time in a single charge.
It stands 3.6 inches high which makes it easy to clean under low-clearance furniture, bedding, cabinets, and other nooks and crannies. It weighs around 13 inches and has a 13-inch cleaning radius.
Unboxing the Roomba, the package contains the robot which is easy to use and partially charged. A charging dock with an adapter, an additional filter, the paltry one year warranty that is mostly with any robot vacuum, and a manual of information.
You will lose your warranty if you used any 3rd party replacement parts which resulted in damaging your robot. But the robot is reliable enough that you don’t need that warranty anyway.
What’s the difference between the Roomba 652, 614, and 690?
The prime difference between 652 and the 614 is that the Roomba 652 allows you to set program cleaning schedules directly from the vacuum. Whereas, the 614 works only when you press the power button and lacks programming schedules.
This major difference allows you to prefer 652 over 614 because you would want to set the vacuum to clean your home and floors while you are not home.
Similarly, both machines have the same prices, so you would end up buying the one that offers more features. The Roomba 652 is lightweight compared to 614, that allows you to carry the robot easily up and down stairs.
Compared to 690, the Roomba 652 is much more limited. The Roomba 690, along with the higher-end Roombas, allows you to connect the Robot with your smartphone using Wi-Fi network and allows you to control right from your phones as well as receive notifications related to the robot if it’s stuck, has cleaned or running low on battery. Whereas the Roomba 652 doesn’t get any of that. But if you ignore this high-end feature, then there’s nothing best than the Roomba 652. Because both will let you set cleaning schedules, which you won’t find in 614.
If you have shag carpet then you can choose your best vacuum for shag carpet and if you have hard floors then you can choose best vacuum for hardwood floors.
How well do the Roomba 652 clean carpets, hardwood floors, and pet hair?
This simplest robot vacuum does a respectable job when it comes to cleaning hardwood floors, laminate floors, and tile floors including low-pile carpets and area rugs. However, it will struggle on medium-pile and long-pile carpets (Neato Botvac Connected is the right option here).
That doesn’t make Roomba 652 useless as it will still get the reasonable job done, but you’ll also want to pair with something like a Miele Soft Carpet. Either way, throw anything at this robot and it will do its job.
With a pitiful start, robot vacuums have come so far with lots of improvements. Unlike older models, today’s robots do not fall from stairs and cliffs, do not hit straying objects or walls or chair legs.
Though the Roomba 652 is the cheapest robot vacuum, it never gets stuck, falls off stairs and ledges, or needs rescuing.
When running low on battery, it automatically returns to the dock and once charged, it returns back to the same spot where it left off.
If there are carpets or rugs lying in its way back to dock, it will move slowly compared to hardwood floors with a smooth surface. But if by chance it runs out of power and couldn’t find its way back to the charging base, you have to struggle for a few hours to set it back to work.
If you are a proud dog or cat owner, then you will be amazed how efficiently it picks up pet hairs, dander, fur, and other particles that come in its way. So when you have the golden retriever, German shepherds, or Labrador retrievers, the Roomba 652 is going to tackle your problems with pet hairs.
Why buy the Roomba 652?
The Roomba 652, is an easy to use robot vacuum which is an ideal choice for your professionals, middle-class families, and frugal individuals to enjoy automation, good cleaning, and new technology without paying a dime. Having a much lower price than Roomba 690, yet it gives the same cleaning power. Though 690 has a Wi-Fi feature for the price if you don’t need smartphone functionality or don’t want the app controlling, then no need to spend that extra money.
But if we compare it with 614, the Roomba 652 allows scheduled cleaning, better performance and less noise. The only problem is the one-year short warranty but that’s what almost every robot vacuum suffers from.
